Robert is a trusted advisor to clients in the field of IP, having over 30 years of experience helping clients in Canada and around the world navigate the complexities of IP protection. As co-managing partner at Kirby IP Canada, he provides strategic guidance to both domestic and international clients, ensuring their innovation is protected with precision and care.
Robert is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States and works across a broad range of technological fields, including telecommunications, medical devices, electronics, software, and mechanical systems, to secure patent and industrial design protection.
He joined Kirby IP Canada after earning a Bachelor of Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. In addition to his leadership role, Robert has made lasting contributions to the profession through his long-standing involvement with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), where he served for over a decade as a member and former chair of the Patent Agent Examination Committee.
